MS is not going anywhere: Ravi Shastri on Dhoni's retirement
London, July 19 (IBNS): Following speculations over former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement, the head coach of the national team, Ravi Shastri, has rubbished such claims.
"That's rubbish. MS is not going anywhere," Shastri told The Times of India, after fans speculated the legend's retirement as he was seen collecting the match ball from the umpires, following the end of third and final ODI match against England at Headingley, Leeds.
The video of the wicketkeeper-batsman's gesture went viral as fans feared a deja vu. Dhoni had retired from Test cricket in a similar fashion in late 2014.
Clearing the air, the head coach said that Dhoni had collected the ball in order to show it to Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun.
"MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like," he said.
