Windhoek/Xinhua/UNI: The Namibia Basketball School League (NBSL) will host the first-ever Namibian School Basketball Symposium on Friday as it looks to grow the popularity of the sport.

Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) spokesperson Jacobina Uushona told Xinhua that the symposium will be free of charge upon registration and will be open to coaches, school heads, officials and to students from Grade 10 and above from across the country.

NBF Secretary-General Ramah Mumba said the aim is to bring together the country's basketball community in the spirit of the NBF motto, "United under one footprint."

Mumba added that there would be practical sessions as well as workshops at the one-day event, with participants to receive a starter kit of basketball equipment at the end of the symposium.
