Never seen him doing that: Irrfan Pathan reacts to MS Dhoni's keeping practice in nets

Dubai/IBNS: Former Indian cricketer Irrfan Pathan was amazed to see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni practicing behind the wickets as a keeper in the nets ahead of the delayed 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a video shared by CSK on social media, Dhoni, who has recently retired from international cricket, was seen keeping wickets while practicing in the nets.

Reacting to the video, Pathan told Star Sports, "We have seen a new visual where we have seen MS Dhoni keeping the wickets.

"This never happens, this is something new for me because I have played cricket for so many years with him, whether it is for the Indian team or in the league with CSK, I have never seen him keeping wickets."

The former allrounder added, "So this is because he has not played cricket for a long time. I guess there was some leg-spinner bowling, so he may be trying to check the new bowlers but it is good to see that he is doing keeping during practice.”

Dhoni has last played any form of cricket in July 2019 during India's semifinal match against New Zealand in the World Cup.

Since then, he had taken a sabbatical and announced his retirement on Aug 15.

The IPL 2020 is scheduled to begin with a match between CSK and Mumbai Indians on Sept 19 in the UAE.
