Serbian Tennis star Novak Djokovic cruised to the next round of French Open with a victory over home player Pierre-Hugues Herbert, marking a foot closer to his title defence.

Djokovic played like an artist displaying the full array of his shot selection and knowledge to down his opponent 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.

With uncertain form and not so hopeful performance in Geneva last week,a cloud of doubt was hovering around his task in France this time.

Despite showing his brilliance in patches, wildcard entrant Pierre-Hugues Herbert was no match to the Serbian icon.

"I'm glad I started the way I started, the way I felt on the court," Djokovic was quoted as saying by BBC.

He will now face Spain’s world number 63 Roberto Carballes Baena in the second round.

Djokovic said he feels he is moving towards the 'positive direction' with this win.
