A lot of things ordered by Israel are now on way: Donald Trump lifts Joe Biden's hold on bomb supply

Washington DC/IBNS: President Donald Trump has directed the US military to release the hold on the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, imposed by former President Joe Biden, Reuters reported quoting a White House source.

Biden had put a hold on the delivery of those bombs due to concern over the impact they could have on the civilian population, particularly in Gaza's Rafah.

"A lot of things that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but have not been sent by Biden, are now on their way!" Trump said on the Truth Social media platform without providing further details.

Trump and Biden have been backing US ally Israel, even as Washington received flak from human rights advocates over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as a result of Israeli military assault against the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Protesters have unsuccessfully demanded an arms embargo.

Ending a 15-month-long war, Israel and Hamas reached a landmark agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza as well as exchanging of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.

This agreement comes after months of intense negotiations by Egyptian and Qatari mediators, with the support of the United States.

The overall toll in the Israel-Hamas war is more than 46,000 with hundreds of thousands getting displaced and struggling to survive in makeshift shelters.

In Israel, the return of the hostages is expected to ease public anger against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, who have faced severe criticism for the October 7 security failure that led to the deadliest single day in Israel's history.

The agreement marks a significant shift in the dynamics of the conflict, coming after Israel's successful assassinations of top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.
