Afghanistan: At least 10 soldiers killed in clashes with Taliban insurgents

Kabul, July 24 (IBNS): At least 10 Afghan soldiers have died in clashes with Taliban insurgents in the country's Zabul province, government officials said.

Provincial council head Atta Jan Haqbayan told reports that 12 others were injured.

The incident took place in Atghar district on Monday.

"...ten army and policemen were killed in the attack and 12 others were wounded,” he said.

However, according to army sources, at least 15 soldiers have been gunned down by the militants, while 18 others sustained wounds.

It said that if reinforcements are not sent immediately, the district will fall to the Taliban
