Afghanistan: Death toll in blast near Kabul University climbs to 8

Kabul, July 20 (IBNS): The death toll in the blast, which took place close to the Kabul University in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul, has touched eight, media reports said on Saturday.

According to reports, the blast took place in the Police District 3 (PD3) of the city on Friday.

Sources told Tolo News that a number of students were waiting outside the university when the blast happened. 

Kabul Police said in a statement that the explosion was due to a magnetic IED placed in the area, reported the Afghanistan-based news portal.

Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for Ministry of Public Health, told the news portal the death toll in the explosion climbed to eight. 

The blast reportedly left 33 people wounded.
