Kabul: Afghanistan's only sports channel 3Sport has stopped operating due to the economic crisis and  imposition of restrictions, media reports said on Sunday.

It stopped operating after a decade since it had started its journey in the country which has been hit by political crisis as Taliban overran it on Aug 15.

“The main reason for the halt in 3Sport operations was the restrictions being imposed on all media and specifically 3Sport,” said Shafiqullah Saleem Poya, head of the organization, to TOLOnews on Sunday.

“The media has been struggling with other problems in the social, economic and political areas also," Shafiqullah Saleem Poya said.

According to Poya, 3Sport made tremendous achievements in the promotion of sports for nearly a decade in Afghanistan.

He said the employees of the channel are now jobless.
