After Zuckerberg, Pichai extends support towards Muslims in US

California, Dec 12 (IBNS) A day after Mark Zuckerberg took a swipe at Donald Trump for suggesting a ban on Muslims' entry to the US, another tech giant, Sundar Pichai echoed the same sentiments.

The CEO of Google wrote in his blog, "It's been said a million times that America is the 'land of opportunity' — for millions of immigrants, it's not an abstract notion, but a concrete description of what we find here."

He further wrote, "That is why it's so disheartening to see the intolerant discourse playing out in the news these days — statements that our country would be a better place without the voices, ideas and the contributions of certain groups of people, based solely on where they come from, or their religion."

"I firmly believe that whether you’re building a company or leading a country, a diverse mix of voices and backgrounds and experiences leads to better discussions, better decisions, and better outcomes for everyone," Pichai wrote.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump in his quest to 'make America great again' said that Muslims should be banned from the country, until the leaders figure out 'what the hell is going on', amidst cheers from his supporters, but have come under sharp attack from all corners of the world thus far.

In a protest to his anti-Islamic sentiments, British nationals have already signed a petition to not let Trump enter the country.

His connections in the Middle East have also taken a hit, as his partners have stripped him off their projects.

Trump was also criticised by Hollywood actors and other prominent figures, resulting in people mocking him in chat shows and sketch comedies.

He, however, said that he stands by his comments as his popularity grows, according to several polls.
