Bangladesh Supreme Court upholds death sentence for Islamist leader
Dhaka, Jan 6 (IBNS) In a significant verdict, Bangladesh Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death penalty which was awarded to Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami for crimes against humanity that he had committed during the Asian nation's 1971 War of Liberation.
The court found him guilty of five charges.
However, it acquitted Nizami of three charges.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 had earlier awarded death sentence to the leader for four charges .
