Dhaka, Mar 20 (IBNS): At least three people were killed when the motorcycle, which they were riding, was hit by a train in Bangladesh's Gopalganj area on Wednesday, media reports said.

The mishap occurred on an unmanned level crossing.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Gopalganj Sadar Upazila’s Bhennabari Rail Crossing,  Abdul Barek, the superintendent of Gopalganj Sadar Police told bdnews24 news portal.

Among the three deceased in the incident, two have been identified as 25-year-old Raju Sikdar and the 19-year-old Tanvir Chowdhury Rocky.

According to reports, the Tungipara Express train was headed to Gopalganj from Rajshahi when it hit the motorcycle and resulted in the death of the three people.

“The crossing is unmanned. The signal bar had not been lowered as the train approached the crossing," Tanvir Chowdhury Rocky told the news portal.

“We haven’t found any eyewitnesses to the incident. But it appears that the three youths riding the motorcycle were crossing the rail track when the train rammed into them. They died on the spot," the official said.
