Barron Trump living ‘reclusive’ life after assassination threats: Report

According to a report by The New York Post, Barron has been keeping a low profile while completing his sophomore year at New York University.

He reportedly spent much of the summer with his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

“He doesn't go out,” a source close to the Trump family told the publication, while another described Barron as “pretty reclusive”.

The report said Barron dislikes being spotted in public and tries to avoid attention, moving “quickly” to private locations when he is out.

Melania protective of Barron's privacy

Melania Trump's office reportedly asked the publication to avoid details about her son's private life, citing “recent threats”.

The First Lady has also been described as protective of Barron and respectful of his preference for privacy.

When Trump’s first presidential term ended and Barron was nearing the point of losing his Secret Service protection, Melania's office reportedly approached the White House to seek an extension of his security detail.

The Biden administration approved the request.

In her documentary, Melania recalled telling Secret Service agents in January 2025, “I know Barron won't go out. And I respect that.”

The comment came as the family was planning Trump's inaugural events, including a possible walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. The plan was later moved indoors because of cold weather.

Iran-linked media issues threat

Concerns over Barron's security intensified after Iranian state television aired a segment earlier this week that allegedly threatened Trump's youngest son and offered a $10 million reward.

The report said the video, broadcast on Iran's state television and released through media affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was titled “Where to kill Barron Trump”.

The segment reportedly discussed Barron's movements and depicted him as being under close monitoring.

It also claimed that a woman had once managed to get past Secret Service security and sit next to Barron during a private meeting.

A separate video aired by Iranian state television last month had also targeted Melania Trump before turning its focus to Barron, ending with a warning directed at him.

US Secret Service aware of threat

The US Secret Service has confirmed that it is aware of the video threatening Barron, according to CNN.

Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said the agency “investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees”, while declining to discuss specific protective intelligence for operational security reasons.

Iranian Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei, however, rejected reports of an actual plot against Barron, calling claims of a potential assassination attempt a lie in an interview broadcast by Lebanon's Al Manar TV.
