Brussels: Ban strongly condemns Jewish Museum shooting

| | May 26, 2014, at 04:48 pm
New York, May 26 (IBNS): Following a shooting on Sunday at the Jewish Museum of Brussels, which may have been an act of anti-Semitism, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday reiterated his strong condemnation of all forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
“The Secretary-General was shocked to learn of the shooting on 24 May in the Jewish Museum of Brussels, which reportedly left two Israelis and one French citizen dead,” his spokesperson said.

Ban sent his condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to one person reported injured, according to the spokesperson.

Belgian authorities are looking for the gunmen, who according to media reports, opened fire shooting indiscriminately in the museum. Despite the location of the attack, there has been no official confirmation that the shooter's motivation was anti-Semitic.

The UN chief said he “trusts that Belgian authorities will do everything possible to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators of this crime to justice swiftly”.
