Ottawa, Nov 7 (IBNS): Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has condoled the death former Quebec Premier Bernard Landry.

Landry passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81.

Trudeau tweeted, "My condolences to the family of former Premier Bernard Landry, who died today. He dedicated his life to serving Quebecers and the province he loved so much - and we salute his many contributions to Québec over the years. May he rest in peace."

Landry served as the 28th Quebec Premier between 2001 and 2003 and remained as the leader of the Opposition from 2003 to 2005.

Not only a politician, Landry was a lawyer and teacher as well. He remained the leader of Parti Quebecois from 2001 to 2005.

Born on Mar 9, 1937, Landry received a law degree from the University de Montreal and a degree in economics and finance from the Paris Institute of Political Studies.

Landry tied the nuptial knot for the second time in his life with script writer and singer Chantal Renaud.

Earlier, he was married to Lorraine Laporte, who passed away in 1999.
