Ottawa, Jun 9 (Xinhua/UNI) A Canadian man was shot dead during a robbery in Sint Maarten in the Caribbean, the CTV report said.

The armed robbery happened near the international airport of Sint Maarten on Wednesday night when the 48-year-old Canadian man and his daughter were attacked by a stranger, who then jumped into a small vehicle and fled the scene.

The man was then taken to a hospital in Florida of the United States for emergency medical treatment and died there later, said the report on Saturday.

Other details are not available. Canadian consular officials are in contact with the local authorities in Florida to get more information.
