Ottawa, Jun 14 (IBNS): Hitting back at US President Donald Trump's imposition of trade tariffs, Canadians have started to boycott the US goods and also launched several campaigns on social media.

#BoycottUSProducts has flooded Twitter where several Canadians stood by their country by embracing indigenous goods and products.

Jessica Cardill, who is a lawyer by profession, tweeted, "Here’s how you can hit back at the U.S. and @realDonaldTrump with your wallet. https://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/a-patriots-guide-to-shopping-during-a-canada-u-s-trade-war/ … #BoycottUSProducts #BuyCanadian #TeamTrudeau"

Babs tweeted,"#BoycottUSProducts This won't be hard at all: French wine, Cuban oranges, Tim Ho's instead of Starbucks, poutine instead of McDonalds and Rossy instead of Walmart."

A bc said he has avoided US wine and got some Canadians bottles instead. "Avoided the US wine and got some wonderful Canadian bottles yesterday . #BuyCanadian #BoycottUSProducts"

#BoycottUSA and #BuyCanadian campaigns too have flooded on social media.

Martin Benoit tweeted, "I am boycotting US products, and I suggest you do the same. Since Trump was elected, I haven't gone to the US like I usually did once or twice a year, and I won't go again until Americans vote Trump off. #BoycottUSA"

Union lawyer Scott Chamberlain has recently bought "Trump-free" groceries.

He tweeted, "First trump-free grocery cart. Focusing on great Canadian products and those from countries with stronger leadership. #buycanadian #trumpfree"

The US and Canada have been at the loggerheads ever since the former imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico and the European Union (EU).

Trump originally imposed tariffs in March and had earlier exempted Canada, Mexico and the EU to buy time for negotiations.

Countering Trump administration, Trudeau has imposed tariffs on imported steel, aluminium and other products from the US.
