Cons Gen of India Toronto commemorates 73rd Independence Day of India

Toronto, Aug 17 (IBNS): The Consulate General of India Toronto commemorated the 73rd Independence of India on Thursday.

The celebration of the Independence Day of India commenced at 10 am with the flag hoisting ceremony by Saifullah Khan, the acting Consul General of India, Toronto.at the office of the Consulate General of India, Toronto.

More than 200 people had gathered there to celebrate India's Independence Day.

Saifullah Khan extended the Independence Day greeting to all the Indo-Canadian community gathered there.

Khan informed the audience that his office would be celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji, also called Father of the Nation, on October 2, 2019. 

He then informed the audience that with the help of Consulate General of India, Toronto, Panorama India Parade for India's Independence day is expected to reach more than 75,000.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind said in his message on India's Independence Day celebration that he pays homage to the heroic struggle and sacrifices made by the Indians to get freedom for India.

Kovind's message highlighted the institutionalization of our culture and philosophy, especially in its grassroots levels.
