Consulate General of India in Toronto to celebrate Republic Day

Toronto, Jan 23 (IBNS): Consulate General of India, Toronto, will observe the Republic Day of India on January 26 this year, according to media reports.

 

Consul General of India, Toronto  Dinesh Bhatia and his wife Seema Bhatia have invited all Indian nationals and Indo-Canadians as well as friends of India in Ontario to attend  the celebration, according to reports.

The flag hoisting will take place at 10 am (local time) on Friday at Consulate General of India, Toronto.

Meanwhile, Bhatia in a statement prior to celebration of Republic Day said: "India and Canada have come a long way in their relationships. Both countries share vibrant democracies, multicultural democracies and both countries have come to a stage when political and economical relationships have been rather strengthened.

"A very important aspect in this relationship is the presence of a very large Indian community in Canada and this community has contributed immensely to the economic growth and prosperity of Canada and has also made its presence felt in the political arena of Canada," he said.

"On this very occasion when we are celebrating the democracy of India though its republic day on 26th January in I wish to convey my best wishes to everyone in Canada and hope that this relationship that is growing from strength to strength will prosper even further thereby contributing to the economic growth, prosperity and the political consolidation of both the countries."

Prospective participants have been requested to inform the Consulate (cgoss.toronto@mea.gov.in, or welfare.toronto@mea.gov.in) in advance for requisite arrangements.
