A car accident near a concert hall in the US state of New York, which left two people dead, is being investigated as a possible terrorist act, ABC News reported on Tuesday, citing sources in the law enforcement bodies.

On Monday, a Ford Expedition crashed into a Mitsubishi Outlander near a concert hall in the city of Rochester, the broadcaster reported, adding that the crash resulted in both cars driving into the crowd, crashing into other vehicles, and causing fire.

The two passengers of the Mitsubishi have died while another five people were injured, ABC News reported, adding there were gasoline canisters discovered inside the Ford.

An investigation is being carried out by a united counterterrorist group, the broadcaster reported; however, the authorities are not sure yet whether a terrorist act was intended.
