Ex-Pakistan ambassador to US Abida Hussain claims Osama Bin Laden once funded Nawaz Sharif

| @indiablooms | Feb 01, 2021, at 05:10 am

Islamabad: Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States Abida Hussain has alleged that former Al-Qaeda chief and 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden had funded former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Yes, he (Osama Bin Laden) supported Mian Nawaz Sharif at one time. However, that is a complicated story," she was quoted as saying by The News International.

“He [Osama] used to extend financial assistance [to Nawaz Sharif]",” she said in an interview with a private television channel as quoted by the newspaper.

Abida had also served as an ex-cabinet member in Nawaz Sharif’s government.

She recalled that at one time Osama Bin Laden was popular and liked by everyone including the Americans, but at a later stage, he was treated as a stranger.
