Washington, May 7 (Sputnik/UNI) The first annual US-Kenya bilateral strategic dialogue will take place in Washington, DC, on May 7 and 8, the US Department of State said in a news release on Monday.

"The United States Department of State will host the first annual US-Kenya Bilateral Strategic Dialogue (BSD) on May 7-8," the release said.

The dialogue was established last August, when US President Donald Trump and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta decided to elevate the bilateral relationship between both countries to a strategic partnership, the State Department said.

On May 7, US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma will sign the Strategic Dialogue Framework Agreement, according to the release.

On May 8, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale will kick off high-level meetings centered around four core topics: economic prosperity, trade and investment; defense cooperation; democracy, governance and civilian security; and multilateral and regional issues.
