Four people accused of spying for Mossad were executed in Iran

Four people believed to be working for Israeli intelligence agency Mossad have been executed in Iran for espionage and terrorism, Iranian state-run news agency IRNA reported on Monday, citing the country's judiciary.

The four convicts were arrested in July 2022, several days before an alleged operation to sabotage an Iranian Defense Ministry factory, the news agency reported.

In September 2023, they were convicted of spying for Israel and forming and leading a terrorist group to undermine Iran's security and sentenced to death, the report said. The verdict was upheld by an appeals court.

Iran does not recognise Israel and accuses the Jewish state of sabotage attacks. In December 2023, five people were executed in Iran for Mossad ties, Iranian media reported.
