Hong Kong reports 48 new COVID-19 cases, biggest increase for single day

Honk Kong/Xinhua/UNI:  Hong Kong's Centre of Health Protection (CHP) reported 48 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, the highest number for a single day since the outbreak of the virus.

Out of the 48 new cases, 36 patients have overseas travel history, and some other patients have been in close contact with previously diagnosed cases, Head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch Chuang Shuk-kwan said at a daily press briefing on Friday afternoon.

The new cases have brought Hong Kong's total number of COVID-19 cases to 256.
