Islamabad, Sept 11 (IBNS): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday condoled the death of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's wife Begum Kulsoom.

Khan described her as a 'courageous and dignified woman'.

"Sad to learn of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz's death. She was a courageous woman of great dignity and confronted her disease with fortitude. My condolences and prayers go to the Sharif family.," Khan tweeted.

Ex-Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's wife Begum Kulsoom passed away in London on Tuesday.

She was undergoing treatment in the city for several months now.

The official Twitter page of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President tweeted: "My sister-in-law and Mr. Mian Nawaz Sharif's wife, Begum kalsum Nawaz, now we are not in, may their God forgiveness."

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam are currently lodged in a Pakistani jail.

Sources at Adiala Jail told Geo News that the former premier and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, have been informed about Begum Kulsoom's passing.

Sources told the Pakistani news channel that the Sharif family has decided to bring back Begum Kulsoom's body to Pakistan.

"She will be laid to rest in Pakistan," the family confirmed.

Begum Kulsoom was diagnosed with cancer last year.
