Islamabad, Dec 17 (IBNS): Indian national Hamid Ansari, who was jailed in Pakistan in 2012, has been released. He will return to India through the Wagah border on Tuesday, reports said.

A Pakistan foreign officer spokesperson described Ansari as an Indian spy who had illegally entered Pakistan and been involved in "anti-state crimes and forging documents".

"#HamidNehalAnsari, an Indian spy who had illegally entered Pakistan and was involved in anti-state crimes and forging documents, is being released upon completion of his sentence and is being repatriated to India," tweeted Mohammad Faisal, the spokesperson.

Ansari, 33, a Mumbai resident who had been arrested apparently for possessing a fake Pakistani identity card, had entered Pakistan through Afghanistan. His intention was reportedly to meet a woman he had met online.
