Kabul: Coordinated attack on military academy kills at least five

Kabul, Jan 29 (IBNS): At least five people, including three militants, have been shot dead after insurgents launched a coordinated attacked on a military academy in Afghanistan capital Kabul on Monday, media reports said.

Additionally, one attacker has been arrested and another is still fighting with security forces.

According to the initial reports, a group of insurgents engaged in heavy gun battle with the security forces, close to the Marshal Fahim military academy.

Local Khaama Press reported that several explosions were heard .

"Three of the attackers have been killed by the security forces and another was arrested. The last attacker is still clashing with security forces," spokesman for the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Dawlat Waziri said.

He further added, "Two security force members were also killed and 10 others were wounded.”
