Malta ship sinking claims 500 lives: IOM
Geneva, Sept 15 (IBNS): About 500 people are feared dead after their ship was rammed by another boat near Malta coast last week, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said on Monday.
The incident came into light after two Palestinian survivors reported the same to the migration body.
According to the survivors, the boat had left Damietta in Egypt in early September.
With this incident, the IOM reportedly said that more than 2,500 people are now believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean this year.
