Dhaka, May 7 (IBNS): Police have arrested a person for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl at Sundorpur village in Chunarughat upazila of Bangladesh's Habiganj district, media reports said on Monday.

The arrested person has been identified as Shaidul Ali.

The victim's father was quoted as saying by The Daily Star that neighbour Shaidul called his seven-year-old daughter to his house on Saturday afternoon alluring her with a mango.

He said her wife rushed to the spot and rescued their daughter after hearing her screams.

Shaidul managed to escape from the spot.

Police said the girl is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.

On Saturday night, the victim's father filed a case against Shaidul in connection with the incident, KM Azmiruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Chunarughat Police Station told The Daily Star.
