My son will decide whether he will come to politics or not: Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in an interview given to ANI, said it depends on her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and the people of her country whether Joy will come to politics or not.

She said Joy has been playing a key role in various initiatives taken by the Bangladesh government.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Joy is an adult and a mature man. It depends on him whether he will come to politics or not. But he is working for the country. We are taking his advice in the initiatives we have taken to build a digital Bangladesh, especially digital systems like satellites, submarine cables, and computer training."

"Joy is supporting me but never thought of getting any post in party or ministry," Hasina added.

Bangladesh Prime Minister said, "In a meeting where many had demanded a post in the party for my son Joy, I asked him to say what he wants. Then Joy said, 'At this moment I do not want any position in the party. Rather those who are working should get posts. Why should I take the post? I am with my mother, I am working for the country. I am supporting the mother (Prime Minister), which I want to continue.'"

ANI asked whether Sheikh Hasina thinks her son should agree to the demands of the workers. In response, she said, it is depending on the people.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached India on a four-day visit. In an interview given to ANI before this visit, she spoke on various issues, including the Rohingya crisis, and Teesta water distribution agreement.
