Ontarians pessimistic of Doug Ford govt’s ability to tackle inflation, healthcare, housing: Survey
Toronto/IBNS: As Doug Ford’s Conservative government gets ready to get back to work with a new cabinet appointed on June 24, the majority of Ontarians reportedly are sceptical and pessimistic about the ability of the government to tackle the problems of inflation, healthcare, and housing affordability.
According to the latest data from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute, inflation (63 per cent), health care (49 per cent) and housing affordability (36 per cent) are the issues with which Ontarians are most concerned.
Although the June 2 vote for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario (PCPO) earned a majority at Queen’s Park with 40 per cent of the popular vote, it was also notable for the lowest election turnout in Ontario history.
Just over forty per cent reportedly said they are happy with the way the election went, and 47 per cent said they were unhappy.
Nearly 92 per cent of those who voted for the PCPO are pleased with the election result.
Ford and his government’s decision to implement a gas tax holiday starting on July 1 was presented with 12 potential policy priorities for the new government was the most popular option among 39 per cent of Ontarians.
