Pakistan: 19 dead, 16 injured as small plane crashes in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi, July 30 (UNI): At least 19 people were killed and 16 injured after a small Pakistani military plane crashed into a residential area here, local media reported on Tuesday.

Five crew members were among the dead, a rescue spokesman said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani Army's media wing, said in a statement that the plane of Pakistan Army Aviation was on its routine training mission when it crashed on the outskirts of the city.

According to the reports, due to the crash, fire had broken out and engulfed several houses.

The cause of the accident was not yet clear.
