Pakistan: Employees of Balochistan university protests against non-payment of salary

| @indiablooms | Aug 25, 2024, at 04:42 am

Hundreds of employees of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (Buitems) recently took out a procession in Pakistan's Quetta city after their salaries were not paid for several months.

The protesters marched on the Airport Road and gathered at the Markhor Chowk where the Buitems Staff Association president, Sohail Anwar, and others addressed the rally and criticised the university administration for not paying their salaries, reported Dawn News.

The speakers were quoted as saying by the Pakistani news channel that the “callous and cruel” administration of the university was behind all the issues from house requisition to medical policy, from non-payment of bonuses to salaries and from suspension of the study leave to the halting of promotions.

They alleged the University  Registrar to be the most 'corrupt person'.

They demanded an immediate removal of the Registrar.
