Security was heightened in Islamabad with a convoy of key opposition leader Imran Khan's PTI, led by his wife Bushra Bibi, approaching the Zero point in the Pakistani city on Tuesday.

The entire area has been taken by the Pakistani Army under control.

The Ministry of Interior earlier during the day had announced the deployment of the Pakistan Army under Article 245 of the Constitution in response to escalating security concerns in Islamabad, reported The Express Tribune.

According to reports, PTI workers and police clashed in Islamabad before the arrival of the convoy.

The convoy will reach Islamabad in a show of strength, demanding the release of their jailed leader Imran Khan, who had previously served as the Prime Minister of the country before being removed from power in 2022.
