An official told Dawn News that a party of Lakki Marwat police station headed by SHO Abdul Razzaq started patrolling on Manjiwala link road on a tip-off about movement of miscreants.

“The party confronted the suspects, who were coming towards Lakki city on a motorcycle near Paharkhel Thall area,” he said.

He added that a head constable identified as Jameel was injured in exchange of fire with the armed men.

He was rushed to a local hospital.

He said that the SHO and other policemen remained unhurt while the attackers managed to escape.
