Pakistan: Quetta blast targeting police van leaves 12 injured

At least 12 people were injured in a blast that targeted a police van in Pakistan's Quetta city, media reports said on Wednesday.

Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind confirmed in a statement that a police van was targeted while the Balochistan Health Department released a list of 12 individuals who were injured in the incident, reported Dawn News.

Rind said a policeman was among those injured in the incident.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

The health department’s statement, issued by its media coordinator Dr Waseem Baig, was quoted as saying by Dawn News that the injured had been shifted to Quetta Trauma Centre for further treatment after they were provided with initial medical aid in Civil Hospital’s emergency department.

Pakistan has been witnessing a spike in terror attacks in recent times.

According to data released by  Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), an Islamabad-based think-tank, the country witnessed 59 terror attacks in August.
