Pakistan: Soldier killed in clash with militants in South Waziristan

South Waziristan: A Pakistan army soldier was killed during an exchange of fire with militants in South Waziristan on Friday, The Dawn reported, quoting the local police.

According to reports, a hawaldar of the army was killed during an exchange of fire between the security forces and militants in Khaisur area of South Waziristan district.

The security forces launched an intelligence-based operation following information about the presence of militants in the area, reports said.

“An exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants, in which hawaldar Zameen Khan embraced martyrdom,” an official told The Dawn.

However, no official statement was issued by the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
