Pakistan: Suicide blast in Quetta Railway Station leaves 25 dead, BLA claims responsibility

At least 25 people died and 50 others were hurt in a suicide bombing at Quetta Railway Station in Pakistan on Saturday.

According to reports, the blast occurred when passengers were waiting on the platform to board the Jafar Express. It was scheduled to leave for Peshawar at 9.00 am.

After the explosion, security forces rushed to the spot.

Widespread panic was caused at the platform following the blast.

Dr. Abdul Sattar, Medical Superintendent at Civil Hospital, told The Express Tribune: "Among the injured, 46 have been brought to Civil Hospital, where they are receiving immediate medical attention."

The explosion, which appeared to be a suicide attack, also injured two railway police officers, Head Constables Ghulam Rasool Jamali and Bhoral Khan,  SSP Operations Muhammad Baloch told the newspaper.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Baloch has condemned the bombing incident and ordered an investigation into the blast.

Banned terror group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Pakistan is witnessing a spike in terror attacks in recent years.
