Pakistani security forces have foiled an attempt by banned   Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to establish centres in Balochistan, media reports said.

The forces arrested a key leader and his associates from different regions of the province.

A spokesman for the Counter Terrorism Department told Dawn News on Thursday that the CTD had received information that the commander, who is also a member of TTP Shura, and other members of the outlawed outfit were attempting to establish their centres in different areas of the province.

The CTD, along with other law enforcement agencies, conducted operations and arrested several militants, including the wanted TTP commander.

“With the arrest of the TTP commander and other terrorists, their efforts to establish centres in the province have been foiled,” the CTD spokesman told Dawn News, adding that one of the facilitators has also been taken into custody.
