Islamabad/IBNS: Revealing the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government's double standards, Fayyaz ul Hasan Chohan of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  (PTI, who had once triggered controversy for his comments against Hindu community, has been inducted in the Punjab government's cabinet on the same portfolio of the provincial information minister.

He had to resign earlier this year for his comments against the Hindu community.

According to reports, he will head the information department along with his current portfolio of the Colonies Department.

“In exercise of the powers conferred upon him under Rule 3(5) of the Punjab Government Rules of Business, 2011, Chief Minister is pleased to assign the portfolio of 'Information Department' to Mr Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan, MPA, PP-17 Rawalpindi, Provincial Minister, Punjab in addition to the portfolio of ‘Colonies Department’”, the notification read as reported by The News International.

The portfolio was previously held by the minister for industries Mian Aslam Iqbal, who resigned from the post citing engagements in his constituency and not been able to do justice with dual responsibility, reported the newspaper.

He had once referred Hindus as “cow urine-drinking people”.

A video of him, in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack, had gone viral where he was seen saying, “We are Muslims and we have a flag, the flag of Maula Ali’s bravery, the flag of Hazrat Umar’s valour… Don’t operate under the delusion that you’re seven times better than us. What we have, you can’t have, you idol-worshippers.”

PM Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had criticised him for his comments.

"PTI Punjab government has removed Fayyaz Chohan from the post of Punjab Information Minister following derogatory remarks about the Hindu community. Bashing someone’s faith should not b a part of any narrative.Tolerance is the first & foremost pillar on which #Pakistan was built," PTI had tweeted then.
