President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran never plotted to kill Donald Trump

The Iranian President has denied it plotted to kill US President-elect Donald Trump, whose inauguraation will take place on January 20.

Speaking on NBC News, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said: “This is another one of those schemes that Israel and other countries are designing to promote Iranophobia."

"Iran has never attempted to nor does it plan to assassinate anyone. At least as far as I know," he said.

This is the first time Iran has made such a claim ever since the US Presidential polls took place.

The US Justice Department in November charged an Iranian man in connection with an alleged murder-to-hire effort to kill Trump.

He was the Republican Presidential candidate back then.

The plot was thwarted before it could be executed.

Trump, who beat Kamala Harris in a high-octane election last year, survived two assassination attempts during the campaign.
