Police in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city have lodged a case against  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers for demonstrating outside  Adiala Jail where former PM Imran Khan is currently lodged.

The case has been filed against party leader Seemabia Tahir.

The case, filed under Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code, accuses the protesters of violating the law, resisting police, and damaging police uniforms, reported The Express Tribune.

Six PTI workers, including Aqeel Khan, Malik Bader Farhan, Zubair Hussain, Noman Tariq, Naveed Akhtar, and Maqsood Zafar, have been arrested in connection with the incident, the newspaper reported.

Five other individuals, including Ahmed Hasan and Mubasher Kanju, have been named in the case.

PTI has been demonstrating against alleged rigging in the national polls on February 8.

The party has been demanding the restoration of their "stolen mandate" and the immediate release of party leaders, including the founding chairperson and Ex-PM Imran Khan, who has been confined in Adiala Jail since at least May 2023, the newspaper reported.
