Kabul: The Taliban terrorists have now targeted the Sikhs as they allegedly removed Nishan Sahib, a Sikh religious flag, from a gurdwara in the Paktia province in eastern Afghanistan, media reports said on Friday.

There has been a spike in violence in Afghanistan ever since the foreign forces started leaving the war-torn country.

The Taliban forces have captured several regions in the country.

Nishan Sahib was taken off from the roof of Gurdwara Thala Sahib in the Chamkani area of the Paktia province, according to images being tweeted on social media, reported Hindustan Times.

Journalist Ravinder Singh Robin tweeted: "The #NishanSahib , Sikh religious flag removed by #Taliban Forces from the roof of Gurdwara Thala Sahib , Chamkani , Paktia , #Afghanistan : sources."

Another journalist Aditya Raj Kaul said: "Taliban has removed the Sikh religious flag of Nishan Sahib from Gurudwara Thala Sahib, Chamkani, Paktia in Afghanistan. Guru Nanak had visited this shrine and hence this place has immense historical significance. Nidan Singh Sachdeva was kidnapped last year from the same Gurudwara."
