Tech Mahindra opens Toronto hub to boost AI innovation and digital transformation in Canada

Toronto: Tech Mahindra opened a new Innovation Hub in Toronto, expanding its investment in Canada with a facility focused on artificial intelligence, digital innovation and workforce development to support Canadian enterprises.

The India-based technology consulting and digital solutions company said the hub will bring together AI innovation, client co-creation and talent development, while supporting its nearly 2,200 employees across Canada.

The facility is expected to strengthen collaboration between customers, academic institutions, industry partners and Tech Mahindra experts to help Canadian businesses accelerate digital transformation using local expertise backed by the company's global delivery network.

The company in a statemtent said the hub will initially focus on serving clients in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and communications sectors, while advancing capabilities in artificial intelligence, agentic AI, cloud transformation, cybersecurity, digital engineering, data analytics, intelligent automation and enterprise modernisation.

"Across industries, organisations are looking to adopt AI faster while building the right skills and innovation ecosystem around them. That's exactly what our Toronto Innovation Hub is designed to support," Richard Lobo, Chief People Officer at Tech Mahindra, said in a statement.

Lobo said the facility would bring together clients, technology experts, academic institutions and industry partners to accelerate innovation while helping organisations access skilled talent for future growth.

As part of its investment, Tech Mahindra said it plans to train AI-ready professionals in Toronto over the next 12 months through structured learning programmes, mentorship and professional certifications to support local employment and Canada's growing digital economy.

The company added that the hub will also host collaborative research projects, innovation showcases, hackathons, industry roundtables and community engagement initiatives aimed at fostering partnerships between academia, industry and government.

Tech Mahindra said the Toronto Innovation Hub reflects its long-term commitment to Canada and its strategy to expand its presence in North America through investments in AI, talent development and customer innovation.
