Trump assures to make H1-B visas simple, promises potential citizenship

Washington, Jan 11 (IBNS): United States President Donald Trump on Friday said he would make changes to the H-1B visas that allows highly educated immigrants to work in specialty occupations on temporary basis.

The new changes are likely to create simplicity, certainty and a possibility for workers to become U.S. citizens.

"H1-B [sic] holders in the United States can rest assured that changes are soon coming which will bring both simplicity and certainty to your stay, including a potential path to citizenship. We want to encourage talented and highly skilled people to pursue career options in the U.S.," Trump said in a tweet.

Earlier in a bid to 'Make America Great Again', the 45th President of USA increased the base price of an H-1B visa holder to USD 1,30,000, an increment from the previous salary of USD 60,000.

Experts believe that the move was done in order to force the American companies into hiring local talent, since the base price necessitated them to pay double than the previous one to an H-1B (non immigrant) visa holder.
