Two Taliban commanders among 15 killed in S Afghanistan

Kandahar, Afghanistan, May 26 (Xinhua): A total of 15 militants including two local commanders of the Taliban group have been confirmed dead as the government forces have targeted Taliban hideouts in Khakriz district of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province since Saturday, said a statement of the army released here Sunday.

According to the statement, Gulab and Mustafa were the two commanders among those killed in the ongoing crackdowns.

Seven more militants have been injured, the statement added.

However, it didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Kandahar province haven't commented.
