UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain sever ties with Qatar accusing it of sponsoring terrorism

Dubai, Jun 5 (IBNS): The United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have severed all diplomatic ties with Qatar while accusing the latter nation of sponsoring terrorism, reports said.

Saudi Arabian state run news agency has said that Riyadh, the country's capital, has closed its borders, severing all contacts over land sea and air with Qatar.

The agency quoted officials as saying that the country wants to protect its people from terrorism.

Egypt too has followed a similar trend and has closed its gates for all Qatari transportation, its foreign ministry said.

Meanwhile, the UAE has given 48-hours for all Qatari diplomats to leave the country.

Slamming the country for funding terrorists, including the Muslim Brotherhood, the UAE has accused Doha of "supporting, funding and embracing terrorism, extremism and sectarian organisations," its state news agency WAM reported.

Bahrain has cut off all ties with Qatar accusing it of meddling in the former's business and destabilising its security.

The Qatari government is yet to comment on the recent development.
