US Supreme Court orders Pennsylvania to segregate post-election day ballots: Filing

| @indiablooms | Nov 07, 2020, at 02:34 pm

Washington/Sputnik: The US Supreme Court has issued an order requiring counties in the battleground state of Pennsylvania to segregate mail-in ballots that arrived after November 3, a court document revealed.

"All county boards of election are hereby ordered, pending further order of the Court, to comply with the following guidance provided by the Secretary of the Commonwealth on October 28 and November 1, namely, (1) that all ballots received by mail after 8:00 p.m. [EST] on November 3 be segregated and kept 'in a secure, safe and sealed container separate from other voted ballots,'" Associate Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the court order on Friday.

The Pennsylvania Republican Party has not provided evidence that counties are failing to segregate the post-Election Day ballots, however, they sought a Supreme Court order to satisfy their concerns.

President Donald Trump is trailing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in Pennsylvania, setting the Democratic nominee in position to win 20 electoral votes that will enable him to win the presidency if his lead remains.

Trump has dismissed the figures, saying they are a result of a massive fraud in Democratic-run constituencies.

Trump led by significant amount of voters on Tuesday night when several Democratic-run states stopped counting until Wednesday morning. Trump claimed batches of ballots were found overnight and together with other irregularities and corrupt practices contributed to Biden's lead.
