Centre has given 16.37 cr free vaccine doses to states: India's Health Ministry

New Delhi/UNI: The Centre has so far provided nearly 16,37,62,300 crore vaccine doses to states and Union Territories, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Of this, the total consumption including wastages is15,58,48,782 doses, says the Ministry data.

A total of 79,13,518 vaccine doses are still available with the states to be administered, the statement read.

Within the next three days, over 17,31,110 vaccine doses will be received in addition by the states and UTs.

Meanwhile, amid an exponential surge in Covid cases and acute vaccine shortage, the Centre on Saturday rolled out its third phase of vaccination which will cover the 18-44 age group.

However, due to the shortage of vaccines and uncertainty over its availability, several states have announced to defer the rollout till proper procurement of vaccines.
