Look up, Kolkata! Telescope viewing, space shows and quiz coming to BITM this August
The Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM), a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will celebrate National Space Day with a three-day special programme from August 23 to 25, 2026, in Kolkata.
The initiative will give visitors an opportunity to explore space science through live demonstrations, an open-house quiz and guided telescope observations.
Key Attractions
Science Show:
The ‘SPACE-tacular’ science show will be held daily at 11 am, featuring live demonstrations designed to make space science engaging and accessible.
Open House Quiz:
The ‘India in Space’ quiz will begin at 12 noon, testing participants' knowledge of India's achievements and milestones in space exploration.
Telescope Viewing:
The ‘Night Sky: Through Telescope’ session will be held from 6 pm to 7 pm, allowing visitors to observe celestial objects through a telescope under expert guidance. The session will be subject to clear sky conditions.
