Nipah: Another 311 people under observation, condition of student improves

According to a bulletin from the Aster Medicity Hospital where the student is being treated, the patient's health condition is improving and he is responding to medicine.

Four people, including two nurses who were in contact with the patient, are under observation.

Health minister K.K. Shailaja said efforts are going on to trace the origin of the latest Nipah virus outbreak.

The minister said sufficient medicines are in the stock and there is need of panic and the health department was taking all precautions to control the spread of disease.

The state could contain the outbreak last year, and this time also we will be able to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

The staff of emergency care in Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital were given a special training on various precautions to be taken while treating Nipah affected patients.

Meanwhile, a case has been charged against two persons who used social media for spreading misinformation on the disease and creating panic among the public.

As part of precautionary measures, isolation wards were open in Ernakulam, Kollam, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts.
The persons under observation are from Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki and Kollam.
